Absence

A month of absence, now over. The "I dun wanna blawg" spirit is gone. But its afterburn still remains.

First, I wanna talk about The Dark Knight. IT'S EPIC. It's not really the kind of a superhero film that I want to watch (since TDK is a darker kind of a superhero flick, I like stuff like Spiderman better :P), but the portrayal of The Joker is one of a kind. My favorite scene was the one in the hospital with the Joker and Two-face. Lol. I lol'd when he used the hand sanitizer-thingy. And when he repeatedly pushed the buttons on the bomb-detonation trigger-thingy. Lol. Because of The Dark Knight, I'm now officially a Batman fan. I wasn't.

A lot of epic video games are heading this way. Too Human, Fable 2, LittleBigPlanet, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, Resistance 2, Guitar Hero: World Tour.. Daaamn. And of course I didn't forget Gears of War 2. The sequel to the best video game evar (IMO). In relation to video games, I've started playing over Xbox Live more than a week ago. Getting your 360 online is as crucial as getting your PC online. I knew I should've started online console gaming ever since I've gotten this 360. So yeah, if you have a 360 and ready to rock out with me on Rock Band, rough it out with me on CoD4 or just hang around Liberty City, give me a bump :D

Now Downloading:

Batman - The Killing Joke (graphic novel featuring The Joker as the lead villain)

Has just bought:

Libertad - Velvet Revolver's new album
Batman Chronicles Volume One - A compilation of Batman's first appearances
12 + 1 Months Xbox Live GOLD Subscription - Needed for online play. I can't believe that this is actually cheaper than, like, pRO (PTP servers). For less than P200 a month, you get superior online gaming experience.

Rock that way.

After 35 hours of pure boredom and self-pity, electricity's back on. Whew. Imagine that.

Yes we have no classes today but it isn't fair. There's nothing much you could do without electricity. But oh well.

Big Red

He's Ricky Bobby and he pisses excellence in the morning, so you better watch out.

Animation made by me using Adobe ImageReady CS2. Thanks to YouTube (and the person who uploaded it) and to the creators of Talladega Nights. Heh.

And whaddya know.

I went to a dentist yesterday to get my braces adjusted.

But what I got was another miserable extraction of not just one, but two of my teeth.

Holy cow that was scary. On the positive side, I've gotten over the fear of extraction already. Go ahead and extract the remaining hell out of me and I won't mind.

I do enjoy school days, for I'm laughing all day long from the jokes that my seatmates throw. From nutty jokes to green jokes (what the?), I'm sure that you'll lol when you hear 'em.

If this is what you want, then fire at will..

The pain of being a fan

After the first four days of classes, I'm all burned out.

Knowing that I'm in a section (named Amethyst lolwut) filled with less beasts and harlots (compared to my section last year), it's gonna be a smooth ride this year. I'm aiming for no procrastination of activities/projects/etc. and a complete attendance. Hm.

My life was shattered when I've heard the friggin' announcement of our school a few days ago. "DISMISSAL TIME WOULD BE 5PM". WHAT THE ____!? 5PM?! AS IF THE REGULAR 4:30 WASN'T TOO MUCH ALREADY! That's basically the reason why I can't get online during weekdays. I have no more spare time. Give me back my life, high school. My friends were like "Buong araw na nasa school! YAAAA! Ipapa-Imbestigador ko yang mga yan!". Rrrriiiight.

School's fun so far. My seatmates (which are my friends) are always making me laugh out loud. REALLY OUT LOUD. There was one time I had no air flowing through my lungs because I was laughing for like 15 seconds. There's just one subject I hate, Filipino. Why? Because our Filipino teacher rearranged our seating arrangement and now I'm sitting between a loudmouth and the most beautiful girl in class, so yeah, her beauty left me stunned.

MGS4? We got MGS4! HAH! Right on it's proper release date! And it's a special edition packed with a Blu Ray disc containing behind the scenes footages! WAHAHA! And yes, MGS4 is amazing. It must be the first PS3 game that made my jaw drop. The graphics are very realistic!! WORDS CAN'T EXPRESS IT, YOU NEED TO SEE IT TO BELIEVE IT!

And yes, my Xbox 360's broken. It can't read game discs. It can still play DVD movies and music from my iPod but without games, it's nothing but a 1-ton paperweight. Darn it. Gears of War 2's gonna be released a few months later. I NEED TO GET IT FIXED ASAP. And so, it's a pain of being a fan, seeing your console break down in the front of your eye balls.

That's all for now.

(P.S. title is a reference to the song Bat Country by Avenged Sevenfold)

Will be gone for a few days.

Don't ask why.

But I have a feeling that you want to know why.

But I won't tell.

Maybe I will.

But then again..

No.

Hah.

Ciao :)

ONE!

Eat my GH3 skills. At medium. lol.

I phailed at the solo, but heh, it's still pretty good.

Of All The Movies in The World

"I used to waste my time dreaming of being alive,
now I only waste it dreaming of you."

Reviews! Reviews! What? Movie reviews!

First movie, a fancy dramedy released last year.

It's the movie called Dan in Real Life starring Steve Carell.

What made me watch it was Steve Carell. I didn't really give a damn 'bout it since it's somehow a romantic comedy but, heh, I was bored and had nothing to watch.

So in the film, he's your ordinary single parent, living with 3 daughters and looking for somebody to love. Eventually he met a girl that he likes only to find out that she's actually the girlfriend of his brother. Then he starts to act all weird during their family reunion. (No major spoilers were spoiled)

The acting of Carell was fine, I never thought I'd see him in a romantic film. His daughters act fine as well, one of them's emo (whines and whines throughout the course of the movie), one of them's the regular panganay type and the youngest is.. the most adorable one. The story was nice, it didn't really bore me. It has a well balanced comedy and drama, which is awesome.

I'll give it a rating of 8.5/10, it's good but it somehow needs more, uh, spice.

Next movie, starring Steve Carell again, but this time with Will Ferrell as the leading guy, Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy.

During the era when all the people believed in EVERYTHING that they hear on the news, there's only one group of reporters who reigned. Ron Burgundy (Ferrell) and his crew (which includes Carell). All the news anchors were male back then. Suddenly, Veronica Corningstone pops up and manages to land a job at the station where Ron works and suddenly became the first anchorwoman. (No spoilers to be spoiled!)

What happens when Ferrell and Carell teams up? INSTA-EPICNESS. Although Carell stars as a retarded reporter, he's the best character in the film. Where else can you see somebody throwing a trident into another reporter's torso? Another thing I loved in this film is the all-star cast. I mean, all-star cameos. Jack Black, Ben Stiller and Vince Vaughn suddenly pops out of nowhere! It's really hilarious. Trust me, you ain't gonna go wrong with watching this film. On the downside, it contains sexual content which may disturb other people, especially the ladies (since I've watched this with my brother XD).

I give it a 10/10. That's not an exaggeration. Rly.

Anutha film? Rush Hour 3. Yeeeeah.

As you may have known, I'm a total fan of the series. Chris Tucker and Jackie Chan? A black person and a white? An American and an Asian? A comedy star and an action superstar?! WOW.

So yeah, the two teams up again to destroy the evil (save people and kill bad guys, you've heard of 'em before) along with some twist and turns ONE MORE TIME.

First off, the casting is GREAT. George, the taxi driver is teh best! Chris Tucker and his roflmao quotes are still epic! Jackie Chan's moves are still sharp and flashy! What I don't like about the film is the predictable storyline. It sounds like they recycled something out of an episode of a TV show or something. So yeah, the only thing you'll enjoy in the film is the hyper combination of Tucker and Chan. It has pretty much lost its touch, but you'll still like it for some reason.

I'll rate it 8/10.

The last movie..

*randomly strums a guitar*

*repeatedly steps on the bass pedal in a slow pace*

*strums again*

I...

Am..

IRON

MAN.

*strums ONE MORE TIME*

*does the legendary riff*

So yeah, it's Iron Man. The superhero that faded behind the other Marvel guys such as Spiderman and the X-men.

Robert Downey Jr. I've never heard of that guy before. lol (His appearance on AI shocked me)

So, hmmm, the story is very engaging. It has a great heroic impact that makes you wanna go insane. He's not your usual superhero like "Hey, I wanna save the people for the betterment of this world", more like an accidental superhero. He wants revenge. And he wants to get rid of the big bad ripoff named Iron Monger.

But it lacks something.. WAR MACHINE. But Rhodes did some hints. "Next time, baby!". Remember? When he saw the Mark II suit lying around? :D

Overall, the movie was stunning. The visual effects are amazing, the soundtrack blows your mind (courtesy of Tom Morello! and oh, I've heard Institutionalized playing on the background once!) and the acting is convincing.

I would enjoy my Iron Man experience if the guy beside me at the theater in Trinoma stops on blabbering "UY GAAAGO!" when he sees a huge explosion or.. "He's AAAAALL yourz!" in a gay accent repeating what Tony Stark said. I wanna crush his face and say "STFU, you noisy bastard!"

Heh, I give Iron Man a 9.2/10.

That's all the reviews for now. See ya later, dude/dudette!

Nu look.

Aha. This blog gained a new look.

I like the simple header I made. Thanks a lot, Fall Out Boy and Maroon 5. And thanks to Panic! At The Disco (ehem I Write Sins Not Tragedies ehem)

The background? I made it myself using abstract brushes in Photoshop. I also like its simplicity but it lacks the glow.

Comments plz.

P.S. Thanks to Jio for sharing his comments to me. Heh. Happy now?

The devil's in the house of the rising sun.

Pick-chur taim! Yeah, whatever.

Note:
Links to the pics are scattered throughout this entry. Be sure to hover the arrow around the text. It gets tricky at times. There's at least one pic in every text division or something.

- So yeah, most of this entry will revolve around pictures and things about/involving/regarding me. THAT'S RIGHT. ME.
- Let's start with this: On our way to Baguio last week (or is it last-last week? I can't remember XD), I had to have fuel. Not ltrly fuel as in gasoline, I mean FUEL! CAFFEINE. The gas stops are my best friend and yes, I love my coffee COLD.
- Is Baguio Paradise City? THE GRASS IS REALLY GREEN, LOOK! The girls? Well, they're okay. I don't get it- there are more Koreans in the hotel we're staying in than Filipinos.
- Speaking of our hotel, I had to indulge in this room. The bedroom for two just turned for one. ME.
- Here is my little best friend when I was either too lazy to turn on the TV or too lazy to walk around Camp John Hay. That's right, INTARWEBZ. I can't live without it.
- Enough about Baguio, let's talk about things down here in the lovely place called Bulacan, which is where I live.
- Whoa, the other night, I tried my HDTV set and my Xbox 360, thanks to Jeff for pointing me to where I could buy Component cables! Awesome! At the pic, you could see um.. my HDTV, the cable box-thing, the DVD player (connected to the speakers), my Xbox 360 and the speakers (beside the 360). Plus a truckload of wires. There's a subwoofer underneath all that btw.
- We also watched Rush Hour 3 in our lil' something called Home Theater a.k.a. Family Room. Would you look at that. 4 La Z boy seats and one huge-ass TV with goddamn speakers.
- Of course, no movie is complete without snacks. lol
- Moving on, look! GTAIV ZOMG! And it's kinda heavy, you know what's inside this? HERE. A friggin' map of LC, plus a guidebook.
- RANDOMNESS: We once grabbed refreshments (ICE CREAM AND SHAKES) from Dairy Queen and guess what? Just click me. My name got misspelled. GREAT!
- Hah, I just bought 2 posters earlier. One Bleach and one FFVII: Advent Children. Imma have it framed then hang it on my 1337 room.
- And btw, here's a pic of my FFVII figures.

That's all for this picture-loaded entry of mine. See you soon! (Whoever you are, reading my blog)

I'll take your bet..

You're gonna regret, 'cause I'm the best that's ever been!

*guitarz*

Well, it has been boring these past few days. Other than occasional buzzes and GTA IV, yeah, it has been boring indeed. Add the fact that the person I've been admiring doesn't care a bit about me.

CUT! CUT! NOW WAIT A MINUTE!

Did I just say (or type or.. whatever) that it has been boring?! SUMMER? BORING? Ugh. (Although it's not that summery anymore, it's already raining and all) I just realized that in two or so weeks, we'd be heading back to the hellhole named you-know-what. SCHOOL. Here comes the neverending homeworks, here comes the freakin' terror teachers, here comes the oh-so-boring flag ceremonies, here comes the delicious canteen food (yeah, the food in our school is not shit), here comes the oral recitations, here comes all that crap. It was just like yesterday when it was my first day as a High School freshman. But now, I'm an incoming junior. I can't believe it. Rly. Time sure flies by quickly, huh? But if I ever had a time-controlling controller (wtf), I would love to hit the fast forward button. I'd LOVE to.

I will try to make the most out of the next few summer days. Hah. Here's a list of goals to achieve before school starts:
1. Finish GTA IV. Seems kinda impossible. But heh, I'll make it.
2. Finish Guitar Hero 3 on Expert. Raining Blood and One stops me from doing so.
3. Learn 3 more songs on my guitar. The fact that my guitar's acoustic makes it a whole lot harder.
4. Download or buy an Eraserheads Anthology album. I sorely miss those tunes.
5. Impress her.
6. Clean out my closet and drawers. It has been a mess. From magazines to cellphone chargers to random stuff. Ugh.
7. Find my Lynyrd Skynyrd Gold album. It has been missing for weeks now. Good thing I ripped it on to my iPod.

Nothing much, but hey, wala na kong magawa eh :P

So, see ya around, people. I might post an entry soon with pictures and all shiznit. MIGHT.

Niko Bellic for President!

Yes, I HAVE GTA IV! HAH! FINALLY!

After what I've said about GTA IV in one of my previous entries, it's kinda weird for me to get GTA IV. I said there's nothing much new but hey, scratch all of that! GTA IV's the best damn game I've played (since GoW, that is)! It's the first GTA game that I seriously played (I only free-roamed and killed people and drove like a madman in previous GTA's). The driving of GTA IV is better than previous games and you'll enjoy drifting around with flashy cars. Shooting is more fun with the cover system (ahem), the AI makes good use of it too. The cop chases? Still intense. The cellphone works like a charm whenever you need a date (and eventually grab some "hot coffee".. I bet you didn't get that. Think deeper) and whenever you need to bowl with your cousin. Minigames are loaded in the game too, like billiards or darts. You can go to the comedy bar and watch various acts to keep you entertained, or simply, watch the TV in your apartment.

To sum it all up: Liberty City is definitely kick-ass. The whole place feels so alive! It does a good job of replicating the real world. It truly deserves the 10 that Gamespot gave.

W-whazat? The game was given a M+ rating by ESRB. I'm nowhere near the age of 17. I enjoy playing the game even if I'm a minor. Don't worry, I don't visit the in-game Strip Club. And that's the bottomline, because Chiel said so.

*runs from the authority*

P.S. Pics to come at a later date. Maybe Sunday or Monday. We'll be heading to Baguio tomorrow. And that means I wouldn't be able to play GTA IV. Aaaww.

P.P.S. My teeth still hurts. But I can eat some solid food already. YES!

Tuesday, May 6, 2008

Teh hurt.

My teeth are still teh hurt. Aaargh. And the dentist said it would be gone after 3 days.

On a side note, I've made the font size of the blog smaller. It looks better that way.

My DL list for today (and probably tomorrow):
1. The Police - Greatest Hits (DOWNLOAD DONE!)
2. Avenged Sevenfold Discography (Halfway done. The discography I downloaded doesn't include the latest album, but heh, it has the City of Evil!)
3. Sex Pistols - Never Mind the Bollocks (... Well, it's their only album.)
4. Anthrax - Among the Living (I need to find one at thepiratebay.org)

Well, see ya in a while.

On the 2nd day of braces..

After about 30 hours of having braces attached, it's still teh shit.

Eating is a HELL LOT PAINFUL. Srsly.

Now if you wanna kick me in the face and say "Stop whining!", that's a bad idea. Im'ma smash your head against the wall if you do say that.

I wonder if tomorrow will be different. All I had to eat this day was lugaw. Yes. Lugaw for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Plus, champorado for an afternoon snack. Why? Since it's easy to swallow with no chewing at all.

In other non-pain-related news, my Rock Band vid I uploaded 3 months ago has more than a thousand views. I dunno how it happened, but heh, it happened!

I'm now hooked to watching the show entitled King of Queens. I never gave much attention to it before (I've seen it first at Star World). Now, since season 1 is being aired on Maxxx and is right before X-play, I decided to watch it. And it's definitely funny. Doug is like a real-life Homer Simpson and his father, Arthur, is just like Abe Simpson.

That's all as of now.

Now I have to take some more painkilling medicine. Aaaargh.

Saturday, May 3, 2008

I made it.

Yes, I sure did. I had braces attached and a tooth plucked out.

But as of the moment, I feel like shit.

The pain is killing me.

I can't eat. A bite is a one-way ticket to Hell.

Oh shit.

Nigga'z.

I'll try to be un-racist.

But I can't help it.

You see, some people say that "Black" people make the worst music. Why? It just talks about sex, money, drugs, women, violence, more women, weed and all the nasty things you can think of. All the rapping's repetitive and monotonous.

These people can do anything to make more money and spend them for drugs. Yeah.

And this brings me to the main topic of this entry, the video game titled 50 Cent: Blood on the Sand.

So let's read the plot of this game:
"50 Cent and G-Unit perform a concert overseas, only to find out that the promoter has stiffed them. Desperate to avoid 50's wrath, the promoter offers the group a diamond-encrusted skull as payment. Before 50 and the gang can bring their prize home, it is stolen by a group of international gangsters. Thus begins G-Unit's globe-trotting, gangster-slaying, havoc-wreaking search for the holy grail of bling."

First of all, why is 50 Cent the subject of a video game? Is he too good that he needs a video game of his own? Who is he? Chuck Norris?

Holy guacamole. Like "We're gonna kick your ass, motherfuckers!" *shoots like there's no tomorrow* "Still alive, eh bitchaz?" *shoots moar*

The pointless, non-existent plot makes me go nuts. "Diamond-encrusted skull". WTF? Like they've dug something out from the cemetery and paste it with diamonds? This is madness! And look, "international gangsters". I'd be happy if that was referring to the Mafia or something, but it's not! I bet it's talking about more niggers!

Let's move on to the actual gameplay. Oh look, 50 Cent has a partner throughout his gun-happy journey. Sounds familiar? Army of Two, anyone? And there's a cover system too! Sounds familar too? Gears of War plz? He-he-hey, what do we have here? There's also a helicopter mission where you use large-caliber weaponries! That AWEFULLY sounds familiar. Call of Duty 4 eh?

With the gameplay that we've all seen before, this is not gonna be good. NOT gonna be good.

The graphics are nice though.

You see, I would be happier if they made a game about another random, fictional "rockstar" that goes mad over a bunch of skull-stealing assholes, but 50 Cent? What the?

That concludes my entry today.

And please, watch this:

^ Best racist video ever from Mad TV.

I'm not gonna make it!

I push my fingers into my eyes.. It's the only thing that slowly stops the ache..

In a state of calamity. That's what I am in. In Saturday I'll have two of my teeth pulled out of my gums and then have braces attached. Yeah. What a weekend it's gonna be. I'm gonna be screaming in pain and agony while the rest of you enjoy sitting around.

In other news, Grand Theft Auto IV was proven a smash hit for Rockstar Games. Another hit. [sarcasm]Like yay! Loop-de-loo![/sarcasm] I quite don't get how GTAIV managed to get a perfect 10. What the? It now outranked Gears of War and The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion! In fact, it owned every single next-gen title that's out now! Other than the bumped-up graphics and the cover system (which is ripped of from another game *ehem*), I don't see any major changes. But since it has a perfect 10 and Gamespot is a reliable site, I am gonna buy it and play it to infinity >:)

I'll give my opinions about Pinoy blogging (or simply blogging). More than a dozen years ago, people enjoy writing about their personal lives in their so-called diaries. Which are oh-so-outdated. To be honest, I tried writing a diary (LOL) and it failed after a week. It's too boring and too plain when compared to what we have these days- Blogging. (Dun-dun-dun-daaa!) You see, blogging is just like a diary, except that it's on the intarwebz and anybody can view it (even your obsessed secret admirer). But that's what you want, PUBLICITY. That's the main difference of blogging with diaries. You do your best to keep your diary away from nasty giggling readers but you show your blog to the people. You even advertise em! It just feels darn great when you can share your opinions about things to the world. The whole world knows what you're up to, what your favorites are and etc. Now the Philippines has more than 120,000 bloggers (based on the show, Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho which inspired me to make this entry). Imagine. More than a hundred thousand Filipinos leaking information about themselves in the internet. We have a strong blogging commmunity, and hopefully, our blogs last a lifetime. It's great for our grandchildren to read what we have written decades ago. But no, apparently, our blogs isn't just for writing our personal experiences. It can also be a source of income (KA-CHING!). Some Filipinos gain more than $300 a month just because of blogging. Holy smoke! I'll be rich! With that amount of money I can get a Wii! Well I'm not really in the appropriate age to apply for income-grabbing service of Google (AdSense) and I don't really desperately need some moolah so I'm gonna wait four more years. Hah.

That wraps it up for this entry. See ya.

Anarchy for the Philippines..

..is not coming sometime so stop dreaming.

Finally, after weeks of not blogging, I have this blogging spirit again. I was supposed to make an entry about our Hong Kong trip but I'm too lazy. Okay, to summarize:
- Ocean Park is better than HK Disneyland
- The HK International Airport is 100x better than ours. I can't access the "free" WiFi though.
- It's fun roaming around the city even at night.
- I had a great time at the wax museum (the one in HK is smaller than its NY counterpart) and had pictures with Ronaldhino, Eddie Murphy, Jackie Chan and even MICK JAGGER (or should I say.. Sir Mick Jagger)!
- There was one small gaming shop just along the street which is packed with next-gen games, PSP games.. There I got CoD4. What I forgot to check was Component Cables for my 360 since I'm getting an HDTV.. which is sadly, 19 inches. That's like.. 5 inches bigger than our PC's LCD monitor. But what the heck, it's still HD.
- I got a new black Nokia 6500 slide cellphone. It's so sleek.

That's mainly it. Hong Kong is like Paradise City as described in the song. It's where the grass is green and the girls are pretty. And by grass, I don't mean marijuana.

In other news, I've uploaded another epic GH vid:

99% in My Name is Jonas Expert. Hah! I'm getting bored of GH nowadays though. I dunno why.

I'm still getting the hang of my FFVII addiction. And I'm thinking of redoing this blog and make it FFVII-themed. lol.

That's all for now, folks. Enjoy your not-so-summery summer vacation. I'll post more stuff in the next few days so stick around.

The longest 24 hours of my life.

One more day to go before being free! Yes! Here I come, Hong Kong!

I'm gonna improve my blog ASAP. My widgets are cleaned up (including the bump counter T_T) so I can have a simpler blog.

Traveled back in time.

I've customized the looks of my blog, changed it back to the very first template. Will fix things soon.

The clock is ticking..

Yes, the flash animation above says it all. We'll be heading North to Hong Kong in a few days to spend part of the holy week in there.

Wish us a safe, happy trip :)

Gears of War userbar!

Please post your comment regarding this userbar I made earlier.

(Hey, I'm getting quite used to this! I might even submit my works to userbar sites! XD)

360- Worst console ever?

It seems that the Xbox 360 may be the worst console ever thanks to its overheating problems. Well, hello?! My 360 never got any problems ever since I got it last year. Hah. Click me for details.

Say hello to the first userbar I have ever created in history, using Adobe Photoshop CS2 for the main thingy and Adobe ImageReady CS2 for making CBG's face scroll. I'll soon make a Burnout-themed one, a Gears of War-themed one and probably a My Name is Earl-themed one. If you wanna learn how to make one, it's very simple. Click me to get started.

The fact that March 19 is our last day at school makes me very, very happy. I only have to endure 10 cram-filled nights, including tonight where I have to make my Social Studies crossword project and fix my TLE project. Then, I have to sing tomorrow or the day after tomorrow in front of the class because it is required for our Values Ed. class. Ugh. The shame.

I've played Burnout: Paradise over the weekend and enjoyed my stay in Paradise City. I love the graphics and everything else. I am also playing more PS2 games, such as DMC, DMC3 and God of War. I'd love DMC3 if only it wasn't so hard. God of War is challenging, but accomplishing tasks is fun. I'm now downloading GoW: Chains of Olympus for my PSP through Azureus.

10 days. 10 freakin' days.

I can't get no satisfaction.

The title of this post is also one of my favorite songs as of the moment, along with Before I Forget (Vermillion is overrated, I tell you! OVERRATED!) and I Ain't The One.

Here's a list of "The Best Things That Have Happened To Me In The Past Few Days"
1. I have finished the PS2 game, Bully, and I am really glad for myself. Since I don't usually finish games that I play, it proves that Bully is one of the greatest video games I have ever played. (But when compared to Gears of War, it's a whole different story)

2. We went to SM Megamall yesterday and I got myself the 2nd issue of Playground mag and Comic Book Guy's Book of Pop Culture. What? You don't know who Comic Book Guy is? He's the dood who runs the comic book shop in The Simpsons. Yeah, the fat long-haired one. And srsly, he's one of my favorite characters.

3. Oh, I forgot to mention. Another thing I got yesterday was..

Yeah, the greatest thing that has ever happened to racing games' newest sequel lands a spot in my collection of 360 games. I have played a few races, a few road rages and tried a bunch of showtimes and was amazed by the fact that the free roaming thingy actually works the way it should work! Not too messy, not too nausea-causing, not too big, not too small. It's just right. The graphics are the bomb and the gameplay is as awesome as its predecessors. The takedown/crash animations are so realistic.

4. After playing a two riffs from the Slayer song, Raining Blood in REAL guitar, my friend and my friend's friends (wtf) were amazed. I'm not Kerry King to do "MOSH1" of course.

SOMETHING TO LOOK FORWARD TO!

Other than holidays, vacations and lots of stuff, there is ONE thing that I am REALLY, REALLY looking forward to this year. Of course, it's a video game.

But not just any other video game, this is a sequel to the best 360 game EVER. AND I DO MEAN EVER! It's the highest-ranked 360 game in Gamespot together with TES3:Oblivion. That game is none other than Gears of War.

Now that a sequel to Gears of War is confirmed to be released in November 2008, I can hardly wait.

Here's the trailer:

And here's the new features that are gonna be implemented to Gears of War 2, thanks to the Unreal Engine (I HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU TO WATCH THIS VIDEO!):

The 2nd video is freakin' awesome! It shows that the environment is fully destructible, the water effects are as realistic as hell and hundreds of Locust drones can now appear altogether in one scene!

I'm gonna make this blog Gears of War-themed as soon as possible.

P.S. There are rumors that Gears of War 3 is coming to PS3, since Microsoft only bought the exclusivity rights of the first two GoWs. Click me.

Thursday, February 14, 2008

Guess what?

We have no classes tomorrow! w00t! Thanks to our school's "Valentine Concert" which I may be attending.

Yes! Victory is ours!

Aargh. A rubik's cube freak bragging off his insane mind which can solve a cube as fast as 20 seconds. Bragaholic. The last two sentences made me say "WTF?!" Is it just me or is this dude really cocky?! Take note at what he said, "It doesnt come free though". DUH! As of somebody will actually ask or beg for his help in solving the cube!

I checked the profile and saw it was an 11 year old kid. And there's something even more irritating.

In other news, The Pretender (by Foo Fighters) had made such a strong impact to the people.

TAKE A LOOK AT THIS

LOL It's the home page of YouTube, featuring many videos of people playing The Pretender using different instruments (like violins) for a shot to be in the Grammy Awards with the Foo Fighters.

Monday, February 11, 2008

The winners!

The 50th Grammy Awards had just taken place hours ago at the other side of the globe. w00tness!

Congratulations to Foo Fighters for winning the Best Hard Rock Performance award for their song, The Pretender and for winning the Best Rock Album award for their latest album, "Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace".

Also, congrats to Slayer for grabbing the Best Metal Performance award (again? FTW!) for their song, Final Six and to The White Stripes for grabbing the Best Rock Performance with their song Icky Thump. Congrats to Metallica, Steve Vai, Rush, Shadows Fall and U2 for being nominated, also in the rock genre.

A big round of applause for these hard-rocking heroes.

Trybute.

And no, I am not a fool for misspelling tribute. You are the fool for not understanding.

Oh yes, I can change!

I love Lynyrd Skynyrd. Though I confess that I never heard of the band since GH2 (what a freakin' shame). Srsly, hearing and playing Free Bird for the first time, I was not easily attracted. Maybe because I was focused on pressing the green, red, yellow, blue and orange buttons instead of listening. But the 2nd time around I had a feeling. This is one perfect song.

Starting with the acoustic guitar intro played by Steve Gaines (Chords: G-2nd fret on top string-E-E-F-C-D, strum them upwards and yes, I memorized it), it already has a big epic feel to it. It somehow sounds dramatic and all. Billy Powell later starts his keyboarding skills with a mellow touch. Artimus Pyle heats things up with the beat of his drums. Leon Wilkenson adds to that with his bass guitar*. When Allen Collins starts playing his part, it blends very, very well to the acoustic guitar. But the showstopper is yet to come, Garry Rossington puts his finger to the 7th fret of the 4th string and slides it toward the 12th making the intro to his ever-amazing slide solo. His slide guitar made the harmony in the early part of the song while the rest of the guys made the rhythm. It was slow and may even sound boring to others (who have a crappy taste in music), but the sound was very, very well-constructed and it has an appeal which no other song can make. Later, Ronnie Van Zant grabs the mic and sings.

"If I leave here tomorrow Would you still remember me? For I must be travelling on, now, cause theres too many places Ive got to see. But, if I stayed here with you, girl, Things just couldnt be the same. cause Im as free as a bird now, And this bird you can not change. Lord knows, I cant change.

Bye, bye, its been a sweet love.
Though this feeling I cant change. But please dont take it badly, cause lord knows Im to blame. But, if I stayed here with you girl, Things just couldnt be the same. Cause Im as free as a bird now, And this bird youll never change. And this bird you can not change. Lord knows, I cant change. Lord help me, I cant change."

Death. That was the theme in the beginning of the song. In fact, death was a theme in other LS songs too. I have no idea why. What exactly is in Ronnie's mind? To be free, perhaps. To escape the fate or the clutches of death and be free. As free as a bird.

The song continues with its slow tempo and ballad-ish tunes until the last line of the song. And then comes one of the most famous solos in history. Gary Rossington lets go of the single string and switches to playing chords as Allen Collins shifts his fingers lower, to play the high-tuned solo. And there you have it, perhaps one of the most mind-blowing tune you'll encounter. Sure, it's simple and sounds a little plain when compared to.. say, Jordan, but it has a melody that is truly memorable. The fast, upbeat chain of movements of Allen's fingers were really amazing. That's the solo that defines Southern Rock.

Later, the infamous Ed King joins the pack, making his own solo to counter Allen's solo**. Two lead guitars- both soloing? THE EPITOME OF AWSOME. It is actually like a guitar duel if you ask me. It is just lovely when you hear Allen's solo on the left speaker and Ed's solo on the right. Both are equally great and it never gets chaotic as the two manages to get the job clean. Billy continues his past-faced keyboarding as Gary swings to the jive of the solo with his rhythm guitar. After an astonishingly lengthy solo, the pack ends it by hitting some chords and making the outro solo (which is defined as "end wankery" in GH2) which is also lengthy.

You know what else is with this song? It is once performed in their live concert, and they did not perform it in the main portion of the concert nor the encore, but it is instead played in their 2nd encore! Imagine the crowd going wild- "PLAY FREEEE BIIIIIRD!!!", "WE WANT FREEE BIIIIRD!!!", or "F*CK YOU FOR NOT PLAYING FREEEE BIIIIIRD!"

CLICK ME
One of the fast parts of the FB solo. And heck, I have no idea how I can pull it off on an acoustic guitar.

*In the album version, Ed King was the one who played bass, but I'm based on the live version. Which is an extended version with extended solos.
**In the album version, Allen Collins played both solos (but of course, he recorded them on different times).

Definition
Other songs that defined LS? Well, there's always the oh-so-famous Sweet Home Alabama. If you can remember, this song is actually featured in a Simpsons episode with Marge singing the chorus. The tunes are uh, groovy and still impressive and in fact, this was considered as Lynyrd Skynyrd's best. This time, Ed King plays the lead guitar and made the awesome riff. But no, the rock anthem Free Bird owns it.

Also, try listening to That Smell (which is inspired by Gary's accident), Double Trouble (which is just darn fun) and one of their singles Gimme Three Steps.

The Afterburn
In short, the 70's southern rock group really made history during their era, even before I was born. And if only that plane crash didn't happen, we may still see the old, classic Lynyrd Skynyrd.

So yes, count this entry as a tribute to the fellas who dedicated their life to make such outstanding music.

To the present members of LS, good luck and more power. Prove why Lynyrd Skynyrd was and IS one of the best bands ever.

And the video is uploaded!

LOL My Rock Band video is now uploaded

Comments?

Doomed?

So, it's a cold Sunday night. And heck, our cable is broken. Now I'm pissed off at Home Cable. First, for removing Solar Entertainment channels, now, this? C'mon.

Yesterday, I downloaded Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne since my pirated copy was lost. I burned it to a CD and enjoyed the RTS goodness. Next, I downloaded maps. My favorite "Anime Hero Arena" and the infamous "DotA". Srsly, DotA is a little overrated but it's nice. Anime Arena on the other side is underrated.

As of now, I'm uploading my RB video. I reduced the size from 98MB to 10MB, but I have a feeling that the upload is still gonna fail. What song? Well, you better run to the hills and see for yourself.

I can't wait to go to DataBlitz and get my hands on Burnout: Paradise. The reviews are all positive. At first, I was scared of the free roaming system but it turned out to be fine. You did a really great job, EA Games, and you have once again proven that Burnout is the king of racing games.

RANDOM PICS TIME!
1337 Kills in 99 Nights! LOL

Lynyrd Skynyrd Gold Album I have

I can't believe tomorrow is another Monday. I can't believe weekends are that fast. I can't believe that we have something called "school". Sigh.

Betrayed.

Thank you so much, ____, for betraying us yesterday. You pissed me off real good. You're really pathetic to be considered as one of our friends.

NVM that. I just wanted to express my emotions against my.. "friend" in school.

Anyways, I'm suddenly attracted by one band: Rage Against The Machine. Tom Morello's style of guitar-playing is wicked, thanks to the kill switch.

Photobucket
Photobucket

The past 3 days were our intrams. The battle of the bands was awesome. A friend of mine joined but mah gawd, they played shitty songs - "A Promise" and "Teenagers". How I wanted to get on stage, wreak havoc and play Killing in The Name or the Free Bird slide solo. Our club, Science Club landed on 3rd place with us being Battle of The Bands 1st placer, Volleyball (girls division) champions and Basketball champions.

32. You think you can punch Chuck Norris in the face. And get away with it.
